ARTIST STATEMENT + BIO
The human body, a complex vessel made up of billions of intricate structures. organs, tissues, bones, genes. The very fabric of our being. In my two part series Mechanics of the Human Body I use acrylic paint to create large scale models of human organs and bones, and ballpoint pen to create a handwritten journal full of research and medical illustrations depicting genetic disorders and their effects on the human body.
Being diagnosed with a genetic disorder myself sparked my interest in the human body and while using my series to explore these complex systems and the faults that occur within them, I hope to help educate the general public. |
Ezekiel Castine is a graduating senior who loves genetics, history, behavioral analysis, will be attending Alfred University in Alfred New York in the fall and plans to pursue a career in art education.
Materials used in series: journal, ballpoint pen, pencil, acrylic paint. |
